Brighton never ceases to amaze me...

In primary this year the presidency has asked all the kids to bring scriptures to church every week. Brighton has been bugging us for a few months anyway that he wants his own scriptures like Justin and I have. I've been telling him that I will get him some once he is baptized, but Brighton has persisted so two weeks ago Justin took him by the Bishop's office after church and got him one of the free Book of Mormons the Bishop has stacked up outside his office (for members to take in case they have a missionary experience and can give someone not of our faith a Book of Mormon). Brighton was so thrilled to have his very own Book of Mormon, that as soon as he came home he changed his clothes and did this:

Justin snuck up and caught a few pictures before Brighton saw him...

and he continues to do this every night before he goes to bed. He is so excited to feel like he can read his scriptures. I honestly don't know how much he understands (probably only about 10% of it) but it's a great habit and good to help him learn new words. He is determined to read the whole thing and so far he has made it to at 1 Nephi 13:13 (he picked it up on Sunday the 9th, 11 days ago. That's over a chapter a day people!).

I'm so proud of this sweet little boy of mine, who is growing up way too fast by the way! I can't believe he is almost 7!

I have always been impressed with Brighton and the things that he says . I look at him like he is so much older then 7 . His young mind and spirit must just soak up every bit of information that is shared with him. When he is baptized the speakers are going to have to come up with some hard questions to ask him otherwise there is no challenge for him. Keep it up Brighton!

What a sweetheart! And what a great feeling for you and Justin as parents to know that you've got him on the right track.
We've also been encouraging all those in our primary to read their scriptures every week this new year.
