Brighton's 6th Birthday!
  It worked out really well that we were in Georgia for Brighton's birthday since he had so many friends living on our street that he played with on a daily basis. We threw a little party for him after school on his birthday and invited the neighbors. The most anticipated item on the activity list was his pinata.


Brighton is a joy in our lives. He consistently surprises us with his thoughtfulness and we've come to expect his many notes and pictures telling us how much he loves us and our family (we usually get at least one a day). He has theories for everything and wants to know everything that he doesn't know! When I wake him up in the morning for school I have to remind him even in his sleepy state to concentrate on putting his clothes on rather than talking to me about the most random of subjects (he can't talk and dress at the same time). His name is perfect as he is a very Bright boy, but he is also incredibly loving. Brighton is ALWAYS up for a cuddle. We never have to ask him for a kiss goodnight since he naturally gives everyone one on his own. He has a lot of compassion for Adaira when she is sad, and enjoys making baby Dale laugh his head off. Yes our family wouldn't be what it is without Brighton as our oldest. He will be a great example to all his younger siblings and we thank our lucky stars that we are blessed to have him. All this and he is cute to boot!

Daisy's baptism day

Today Daisy was baptized by her big brother Brighton. My mom and Adaira got to be the witnesses, grandma Joanna gave the talk on the Holy Ghost, and Dale gave the closing prayer (after Dad has to rush during the closing song to help him put back on his tie and button up his shirt. Brighton was the pianist except for Adaira who played "When I am Baptized" for a special musical number. (A set of twins from another family was also baptized and their kids sang and played the violin). Here is what she has to say about her special day: I felt happy and felt the Holy Ghost.   Memorial Day A couple months ago I told Justin that we should take our kids and both sets of grandparents to the Mesa City Cemetery and tell our kids stories about our family members buried there. I thought it would make a good Sunday or Family Home Evening activity.  I want my children to identify with their ancestors and feel like they can learn from them. I especially want them to feel like they can develop some of the same good qualities or avoid some of the poor ones. They had also never been to a cemetery so it would be a new experience for them. Justin and I never got around to organizing it until today. Justin's mom was planning a lunch BBQ and swimming for Memorial Day and told me she was thinking of inviting my parents and asked about time preferences since she was thinking of doing it around dinner time.
