It was unseasonably warm here in Georgia so we had another chance to play at the beach on Halloween Day. This time we went to a different spot where the beach is huge at low tide, and off to one side is a HUGE tide pool that one can explore. Justin had a good time (I think) building this castle for the kids (you like Adaira's pose for the camera?), and Brighton spent some time digging out a moat around the castle (he only made it about half way around). We ran into another FLETC family from our ward and got to chat with them for a while too. The water seemed warmer than it was last week so I even got in a little bit this time. Dale went to sleep shortly after we got there which was great! I layed the back down on the stroller and put him in there and he slept the whole time, allowing me to actually "play" on the beach. The weather was perfect because it was warm enough to play but there was a nice breeze so I didn't have to worry about Dale getting too warm.
Adaira's turn on the boogie board, just look at that big smile on her face above! The waves here are pretty weak so she didn't go far, but small waves are good for little kids too. That way I don't have to worry about them getting washed out or knocked over.
Brighton and I found this thing in the tide pool. It had gotten turned upside-down and died. At first I thought it was a big crab, but when I turned it over and saw the spiked tail I thought it was some kind of stingray. Either way it was definitely one of the ugliest things I've ever seen. We asked some people fishing nearby and they told us it's called a HorseShoe Crab.
This may have annoyed the people relaxing nearby on the beach, but we had fun attracting just about every bird within 1/2 mile to our bread crumbs. It was a zoo! The birds were fighting with each other and just hovering over us to catch some bread. Once we had them concentrated enough in front of us, Brighton charged through and scared them all away. It was a good time!
