Halloween
So I'm really not a creative person when it comes to Holidays. I don't sew costumes or look for anything original. Basically we go down the aisle at Walmart and pick whatever the kids want. Perhaps when they get older I'll have the time, patience, and hopefully desire to have more fun with this Holiday. For Halloween Brighton chose the "Gatekeeper"costume, not because he has any idea what the gatekeeper was, but just that it looked pretty scary and he wanted to be scary. Adaira was Snow White. She didn't actually pick her costume, I just happened to pick it up since she is in to dress up and princess stuff. I knew she'd love it and she did.
The ward in Brunswick had a trunk or treat the night before Halloween. Let me just say that the ward here is so great! The people are incredibly friendly and helpful. Just yesterday the Relief Society president, who is about my age and has only been in for about three months, called me yesterday and chatted with me for about 20 minutes. As we neared the end of our conversation I kept waiting for her to get to the "reason" for her call, but then I realized she didn't have a reason and she was just being friendly. She didn't have anything specific to ask me or set up, she just called to say hello. I was surprised and very humbled by her effort to make me feel like I have a friend here, even though she could easily look past me since I'm not a permanent member of the ward and they must get dozens of FLETC families in and out every year. What a way to truly magnify your calling! Anyway, back to the Trunk or Treat. Before the treating, they had activities inside the church for the kids: cookie decorating, cupcake walk, face painting, and the donut on the string. Brighton was so funny trying to get his donut! It just kept rolling around his entire head and he was sticky all the way around by the time he was done. We had a great time and have enjoyed going to the ward activities since we've been here. The next night we went to a neighborhood here on the island renowned for having great candy and they actually get so much traffic that they have a polic officer at the entrance to the neighborhood to stop cars from coming in once the streets get too many trick-or-treaters on them. People in the neighborhood really get into the Halloweeb spirit and dress up and decorate their homes and then sit out on their porches waiting for the kids. It was really cool. We passed several people in the ward while we were there.

So excited to be a little Princess!
If you look closely you can see that Brighton's mask is totally squishing his face in this picture.
