Gilbert Temple Dedication

Image
It was a special day today to take Brighton to the temple dedication for the Gilbert temple. Like so many things in life he wasn't too excited to get dressed and go to the church building but after the meeting was over he was glad that he had come. While sometimes reluctant, Brighton is such a sweet and intelligent boy. He has a kind heart loving spirit. I hope you felt the spirit today watching the temple dedication. I know I did especially at the end during singing of the Spirit of God. Brighton I hope you always remember this day. I hope you follow the counsel suggested that you make it a goal to get married in that temple and keep your life worthy to do so. I love you son. Love Dad Brighton's thoughts: well anyways it was really worth getting dressed for and I really felt the Spirit. I felt it as peace and love. Our crew at the open house. We had to wrestle Dale but made it through. Audra offered to take the older kids a few days later. Adaira obliged and g...

Exploring a new park in Mesa

Image
Mesa has been getting quite the facelift lately since Justin & I lived there at the beginning of our marriage. Although I would still never move back to that ghetto, they have added a fabulous new park that our kids love visiting. Dale & Daisy and I went for the first time with Angie and her boys during the school day. The park was brand new but nice and empty. Daisy & "Wee-yum"  Dale & Tristen were playing on this cool web-thing and I knew a crash was imminent  Daisy fell off and wasn't too impressed  Throwing Star Wars Vader blasts at each other  I hope my kids have great memories and friendships with their cousins when they are older. My family didn't have any cousins our age so it wasn't a blessing we got to enjoy.

Box Canyon on a new riding "toy"

Image
My parents are awesome and bought this Ranger for them (and all their kids) to use. We have all enjoyed taking our families out on rides since they picked it up. The weather was great and the river was running. I'm so glad my parents use their generosity to allow us to have fun with toys we can't afford to get on our own yet. Just took us up a very steep hill (kids were truly scared, I was nervous myself) at the very beginning.  I was glad Daisy was safely strapped into a carseat!  Best part of the ride right here going through this canyon. A little tired toward the end  There is a shady spot in the canyon where I like to stop and rest (some like to pee while we are here)  Tried to take a picture with Dale but he walked away from us.  Dale has yet to learn that he doesn't have to drop his pants all the way to pee. As I was taking this picture someone was holding Daisy and walked right near me and it just captured the...

Searching for answers

We had Dale seen by the developmental pediatrician at Phoenix Children's hospital almost two weeks ago. She spent 2 hours with Dale and I, which I was happy about. It might seem like overkill, but I imagine the multiple diagnoses are for insurance and therapy purposes. We still don't know the causes for Dale's delays, and I wonder if we ever will. The good news is autism has been ruled out, but sensory processing disorder (and of course ADHD, though the two are often confused) has not. Dale is still in preschool 3 days a week with an IEP, and I started him this week in another preschool class through the city on T/Th. He is so big for his age that I really don't want to hold him back from Kindergarten this year, so we are going to do all we can with preschool and therapies to help him catch up. The pediatrician kept talking about how big his head was, coupled with being so tall and having such big hands, knees, and feet. I told her his size was normal (she quickly inte...

Funny Dale-isms 2013

Image
In an effort to catch up on my blogging, I've been perusing through my 2013 Facebook posts for stories and other pictures. I've quoted so many funny and/or frustrating sayings or stories about Dale that I think it's worth mentioning on the blog so it will be recorded in the family scrapbook someday. Will have to go through 2012 another day. March 2013 Me: "Dale, can you eat something for lunch? What do you want to eat?" Dale: "How 'bout, yogurt?" Me: "Yogurt? What else are you going to have with some yogurt? (thinking food)" Dale: "ummm, a poon (spoon), a bow (bowl)..." May 22, 2013  Someone got into the stamps June 5, 2013 In the last 30 minutes I have confiscated scissors, matches, a toilet paper holder spring, and my wallet (empty of all my coins) from Dale. He also helped himself to sticky Limemade during that time as well. It's freaking madness, and it's exhausting. He can't be left unsupervise...
