Jackass Canyon This spring I started floating the idea of hiking down Jackass Canyon with my Dad and brother. Jackass Canyon leads to the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon National Park. It is upstream from the North and South Rims and down river of Lee's Ferry. Trent and my dad had done the trip a couple of times before and always raved about the fishing on Colorado River and the hike. I thought Brighton and Adaira were ready for an adventure and I wanted to go as well. Just before leaving My kids have been decent hikers the few times we went to South Mountain or near Kinder Springs. Trent and Dad said the hike was less than three miles so I am thinking it can't be that bad, right? Adaira - our beautiful hiking girl   I brought along my GPS watch and it was actually just under two miles after dropping into the canyon until we hit the river. Gilmore Adventure Race and a yard update ! By Justin Audra and I have done the Gilmore Adventure Race twice now. This year was the first time I did it without her. It was fun but just not the same. My two teammates didn't train as much as I thought they would and hadn't been on a bike in a while. We came in last place in our division but on the whole we had a good time. We did finish it in a much quicker time compared to my two previous attempts however. I think both of them will be back next year. The race was held at Watson Lake near Prescott. While it isn't in the pines, it is very scenic. Our three man team. The man on the left was my trainer from work and the guy on the right is Audra's brother Don who I also work with. Random Fun Around the House I haven't been taking nearly as many pictures since Brighton and Adaira started school. I feel so guilty! Here are a few random fun things to document: September 6, 2011 Dale usually hangs out in the bathroom causing trouble when I am getting ready in the mornings after Brighton and Adaira are off to school. This morning he was actually being good and not trying to eat or smear anything! He crawled up to Justin's vanity and was entertaining himself by looking at himself in the mirror with Justin's hat and sunglasses on. This kid is just too cute. Decides he needs a little drink... Sitting precariously close to the edge but doesn't seem to mind... September 7, 2011 We picked up this stuff called "H2Goo" in Victoria, B.C. when we were on our Alaska cruise. You add it to water and it turns the water into this jelly goo. When the kids are done playing, you add another bag of product to turn the goo back into water. I think...
