Brighton can go to stake dances now...

Okay so this kid is old enough to go to dances now but something tells me that will NOT be happening, lol. Brighton, our oldest and self proclaimed (All the time) "favorite child" turned 14. Where has the time gone? I'm not just saying this, but I 100% mean it when I say we couldn't be more proud of Brighton. We are so lucky that he is the awesome and inwardly good kid that he is. He just has a desire to be righteous, honest, and good. He still changes the channel or screen if something remotely inappropriate comes up. He opens up to us (not with ease, but yet it still happens) about things that bother him or make him feel ashamed, and we feel like we can trust him to choose the right. So far he has chosen fantastic friends who help him live the gospel and enjoy teenage life. Brighton is musically gifted and recently has really begun to excel in piano, after realizing he had gotten to the point where he can learn new hymns easily now. This means he will sit down for 20 minutes and play (usually after we've asked him to do his chores) and come out and say "Hey Mom, did you hear that song? I just learned that!" He still does well in band, even though he never practices at home, and we are excited for him to start marching band next year in high school. It freaks me out a little bit (okay a lot) how fast time is flying with our older two. Is it really possible that we only have four more summers with this boy before he goes on a mission?? We love you so much Brighton. We are proud of the young man you are and look forward to seeing you grow into the amazing man you are destined to become.

Fulfilling his dream at Walmart one evening...

And his hair is definitely getting some curl to it now that his growth spurt is starting

Brighton & Adaira both chose to delay their birthday parties so they could have a water party in warmer weather. Toward the end of April we rented an inflatable water slide and inflatable slip and slide and had back to back parties for the both of them, in addition to going out to dinner as a family on their actual birthday. Brighton doesn't like cake or ice cream cake, so he got a Texas sheetcake (which he actually does like, as long as there are no nuts in the frosting, lol).
