I love Brighton

In lieu of some of the events this week with the girl being abducted and released by the pervert who exposed himself to her in Queen Creek, as well as other reports of a man acting suspiciously in his car at an elementary school parking lot in Gilbert today, I took the time to have THAT conversation with my kids again about what to do if approached by a stranger trying to get them to go with them. It went like this: Me: "So what do you do if someone pulls up to you and tells you to get in their car"
Kids in unison: "Run away"
Me: "That's right. Now what do you do if they point a gun at you and tell you to get in their car?"
Brighton: "uh...I don't know"
Me: "You STILL run away, scream and yell and run to the school or to the nearest adult with children around. They won't shoot you, they'll probably just try to get away. Now, what do you do if they are grabbing you trying to force you into their car?"
Brighton & Adaira: "You hit them!"
Me: "That's right! You scream, hit them, kick, scratch, bite, ANYTHING to get away. You try to hurt them if you have to..."
Brighton interrupts: "and KILL them if necessary"

LOL LOL LOL LOL, had to call Justin to share. He was laughing so hard he had tears in his eyes. I love my Brighton.

Daisy's baptism day

Today Daisy was baptized by her big brother Brighton. My mom and Adaira got to be the witnesses, grandma Joanna gave the talk on the Holy Ghost, and Dale gave the closing prayer (after Dad has to rush during the closing song to help him put back on his tie and button up his shirt. Brighton was the pianist except for Adaira who played "When I am Baptized" for a special musical number.   Memorial Day A couple months ago I told Justin that we should take our kids and both sets of grandparents to the Mesa City Cemetery and tell our kids stories about our family members buried there. I thought it would make a good Sunday or Family Home Evening activity.  I want my children to identify with their ancestors and feel like they can learn from them. I especially want them to feel like they can develop some of the same good qualities or avoid some of the poor ones. They had also never been to a cemetery so it would be a new experience for them. Justin and I never got around to organizing it until today. Justin's mom was planning a lunch BBQ and swimming for Memorial Day and told me she was thinking of inviting my parents and asked about time preferences since she was thinking of doing it around dinner time.
