No BOYS allowed!
Adaira had her 6th birthday on April 5th and that same day after school we had a birthday party for her. I had asked Adaira a few months prior what she thought she'd like to do for her birthday, and she said she wanted to have a PINK party. That sounded super easy to me so I told her it was a deal. I shopped a few Valentin's clearance deals and basically grabbed anything cute and pink I could find in the weeks leading up to her birthday. Adaira is a total social bug and has so many friends that we really had to limit who she could invite since I told her we could only invite 10 girls. We used plastic pink table clothes to drape along the barrel train and took all the girls on the "birthday" train at the start of the party. I found these little pink hats in the dollar section at Target and had one for every girl to wear (Turns out they were a little too small!).The pink table clothes were held to the barrels with clothes pins and didn't end up holding it too well. It didn't look too pink by the time the ride was over, but I don't think the girls cared.
Since it was dinner time the girls had pink waffles, optional strawberries and strawberry milk for dinner.
Then they all got to make their own crowns (most of which were pink, but the packages had some other colors as well)
Then we did quick pink manicures. I had envisioned taking more time on the manicures and even bough cute little stickers to bling out their nails with, but when you have 10 girls and only two adults doing manicures, you feel pretty rushed! I completely forgot to even get out the stickers and all the girls just got a single coat of their choice of pink polish on their nails.
This is a sweet picture of Daisy and her cousins Talyn and Dusti (Dean's girls, Talyn is the youngest of their kids). Their parents surprised all of us a few weeks ago when they told us they were expecting baby #5, and it's another girl!
After the manicures the girls all got to decorate their own pink cupcake. Since we were having cupcakes I made this miniature bundt cake for Adaira to blow out her candles.
The girls decorated their cupcakes with pink icing, strawberry whoppers, pink jelly beans, and various sprinkles.
Adaira definitely got all the dolls and girly items she can handle!
End of the evening party shot. A few girls had a leave early, but I think they all had a great time. Adaira certainly enjoyed herself. We are so lucky to have you in our family Adaira! You are such a big helper and so smart! You love everything girly but play just as easy around the boys as you do the girls. You don't have any trouble speaking you mind or making a stand for yourself (even with your parents!). You are very determined when it comes to wearing skirts or dresses over pants or shorts. You come home from school and change into your princess dresses at least 2-3 times a week. You can't get enough when it comes to make up and love to apply it several times a day (all the way up to your eyebrows!). You get mad when we say it but you like to watch the kissing parts at the end of all the Disney princess movies (oh, boy!). You love to read Pinkalicious and any books that are girly, and you are the best reader in your class! Your Kindergarten teacher told me at our last meeting that you "of course" were ahead on everything and having a very good year. Your best friend right now is Emerson Smith (from the ward). Your favorite food is Macaroni and Cheese and you and Brighton argue a lot because you love it and he doesn't. You are such a big help with Daisy and she loves to see your smiling face. Every time I'm in the middle of something and Daisy needs attention, you are so quick to jump up and get her from her bassinet or play with her on the floor. Last night she woke up crying and instead of getting me you got her out of her bed and lay with her for a while and then put her back. You love acting like a mother! You love cuddles and attention as often as you can get them, and demand kisses all day long, even at the most strange of situations (I fear for your teenage years!). You are such a pretty daughter of our Heavenly Father, and already I pray for your future and hope so much that all your dreams come true. We love you big girl!
