Where did the month go?!
So it's been nearly a month since my last post. Little Miss Daisy is growing like a weed and I'm still praying to start getting more sleep!
Here is what we've been up to for the past 4 weeks:
Brighton finished up his first round of soccer. It's the first time he's ever been in any sort or sport and this was just a recreational team for kids his age, but I felt like he needed to be in something that got him in contact with other boys his age as well as providing a form of exercise. I am also hoping to find him a sport that he enjoys and can excel at so he can be proud of being good at something (other than reading...which has started to hamper his ability to socialize well with other kids at school because he just wants to read during recess and free time). Brighton didn't really love soccer, but he says he's willing to play it again. We made friends with another family who has a son on his team and we've had a few play dates (they are LDS and have a girl Adaira's age too). Having a friend on the team should help Brighton enjoy it more in the next round.
Adaira had a fall program at school and was a pretty flower! She was upset because the program was right after Brighton's practice, I was home with the baby and Justin tried his best to grab a quick dinner for the kids at McDonald's before the program (which started at 6:30 and practice got out at 6pm) but they ended up being late and she missed the part where she got to sing with the flowers.
On Thanksgiving Eve my parents took all of us to Rockin R' Ranch in Mesa. They had a few things to entertain us before the dinner and then about an hour of dinner entertainment after the dinner. We had Daisy with us and she was a good little girl and slept most of the time.
Don and his wife, Dia.
See all the animal heads on the walls?
My parents brought Frances' grandma, Francisca. I don't know how much she understood but I hope she enjoyed it.
On Thanksgiving Day at my parents house we brought out a few barrels to take the grand-kids on rides. After I snapped this picture I told Justin that I needed to show Brighton how he could practice smiling in front of the mirror :-)
Dale has developed a new obsession of squeezing random substances into my hairbrush. He puts in whatever he can find on my vanity, including toothpaste, facewash, lotion, aloe vera gel and my face lotion. He has done this at least three times now. Grrrrr!!! I don't know what to do with that kid sometimes....
Did I ever mention that Dale loves Nutella? Or that when we realize we haven't seen or heard Dale in a while it's never a good thing? I always hope that perhaps he is playing quietly somewhere, but that is never the case. We found him in the pantry with what was an unopened bottle of Nutella.
This is not the first time I have caught him with a fistful of Nutella either...
Daisy recently had her one month checkup. In a month she has grown 2.25 inches and is now 23.75 inches long, weighs 11lbs 11oz (up from 9lbs 11oz at her one week checkup) and they measured her head three separate times because it is so ginormous! At first the nurse assistant measured it, then she came back in and measured it again, and then when the doctor came in she measured it again! I asked the doctor if Daisy's head was big or something and she said it was, and when she showed me the numbers I can see why they were surprised at the growth. At her one week checkup, Daisy's head measured in the 45th percentile. At her one month checkup it measured in the 99.56th percentile! Now that I look at her I can see that she actually does have a pretty big noggin, but the rest of her body (height and weight) is above the 95th percentile so she is just big all the way around and her head has caught up- thank you Daisy for having a smaller head for delivery ;)Adaira still adores her little sis! These are from when Daisy was almost 3 weeks old. She is such a strong baby. When she is laying in a reclining position like this she will lift her head and shoulders forward and make herself fall over if I don't hold her.
See her leaning forward in this one?
This picture just makes me laugh. It's not a very good one as far as prettiness goes, but as far as cute chubby baby faces it's pretty cute!
See, her head doesn't look that big in comparison to the rest of her body, right? She is just one loooong baby! She already too tall for 0-3 month clothes, sniff!
I was taking pictures of Daisy, and Adaira wanted to pose for one of her own.
With Daddy, 11/29/11 (just over 3 weeks)
This is just the best picture because it totally catches Dale's impish personality. He has to be funny to survive my wrath with all the trouble he causes...
If I don't take pictures to document myself in this child-rearing process, who will?
11/30/11. This lady screamed through her first bath, but has loved them ever since. She doesn't make a peep!
12/3/11. Blessing day for Daisy.
My good friend Melissa was nice enough to take some notes for us for Daisy Grace Ellsworth Owens. Her Daddy blessed her with the following: - Knowledge of Heavenly Father & Jesus Christ. To know of their love throughout your life.
- To grow health and strong
- To love others and be kind and the good example that a daughter of God should be.
- To develop a close relationship with your family and be lead by the spirit.
- That the spirit will guide you to be happy and when you make decisions
- To be a calm and happy baby that will begin sleeping through the night soon (seriously?! I gave him a hard time about that. He says it just came to him. I told him I could have really used that one with Dale...)
How stinkin' handsome is this kid? I couldn't get over how cute he looks in this picture. I told him he looked like a Ken Barbie doll. He didn't seem to appreciate that...
Some more pictures of our pretty girl, at 4 weeks.
Adaira having fun with her Dad (handsome devil that he is).
Adaira, being herself...
More pictures of our pretty littlest girl at 5 weeks.
Just starting to smile!
She's getting way to big too fast. Slow down Daisy! Don't grow so much, just start sleeping more and mommy will be happy!
