Dale's second hair cut!
Dale has surprised us with his hair from the day he was born. Brighton and Adaira were both completely bald for nearly the first 18 months of their lives (around 18 months it would finally start growing out longer than just the baby fine peach fuzz).
Here is Dale pre-haircut (umm....this picture was also taken to document what he did to himself after waking up from his nap and waiting for someone to come get him. He was put to bed with his shirt on correctly and his overalls completely on and buttoned...) and by the way, the shoe he is holding has soles made out of that foam plastic stuff, and Dale likes to take them off in the car and EAT them, so the front tips of both of them are gnawed off...
Earlier in the day before his haircut:
Later that evening after we tortured him with the clippers:
Dale just got over his ear infection and then the whole house became sick again, hence his red eyes below...Oh yeah, just further documentation of the fact that TROUBLE is actually spelled D-A-L-E, here's some more for ya (all taken within the last few days):
Dale finds out that dryer lint does NOT taste like cotton candy...
Dale in my sink eating eyeshadow (because he got tired of the toothpaste)
This is a new one, usually it's his hand or other objects in the toilet...
He snuck up behind me and was lifting up the back of my shirt while I was sitting at the table with Brighton and poking me with a spoon he took out of the utensil drawer. Just look at that mischievous smile! I am really in trouble with this kid...
In other news, Brighton is still doing great in school. Adaira just loves preschool and is reading better and better all the time. They are still the best of friends and the worst of enemies, and it switches about every five minutes... The pictures below are of them right before bed time. They were parading around the house shouting "USA! USA! USA!" as Adaira was shaking the maraca and Brighton was holding up his anti-war sign. I don't even know what prompted this (we haven't been talking about world turmoil or anything recently) but it was hilarious.
My HANDSOME boys! LOVE 'EM!
I've recommitted to losing a few pounds, so I've been doing my trusty TAE BO (that I lost 20 lbs to in college) a few nights a week. Adaira came out after I had put her to bed and thought it looked so fun, so I let her do it with me. She was so proud after doing it for a few minutes that ran and found her Daddy and told him that she was exercising. It was so cute to watch her enthusiasm.
I love this time of year not only because the weather is PERFECT, but all our trees begin to show signs of life and blossom! It's so rewarding to go out and see our little blooms!
Apple Tree
Peach trees
In the past month, Justin planted nine new fruit trees (and vine) in our yard (and blew our monthly budget I might add!). The only trees our lot had when we bought it nearly five years ago were nasty palo verdes. Justin cut them all down and we have planted every tree and bush now on the property. Now we have 17 shade trees, and our grand total of fruit bearing trees are as follows:
Apple (2) - had an awesome crop last year
Peach (2)
Pear (2)
Pecan
Plum
Apricot
Pluot (mixture of a plum and apricot)
Dwarf Nectarine
Pomegranate
Pomegranate
Fig
Grape vines (3)
Justin still wants to get 5-6 citrus trees and get a garden going next year. All of this on top of our 13 laying chickens, I guess all I will need in a few years is my emergency supply of grains and we should be good to survive most anything! It's been costly, but I have to admit it's money well spent because all of our trees/vines have done very well, it's exciting to grow your own stuff and at least the fruit trees have pretty flowers :)
