Where have We Been?
Dale has been learning to eat rice cereal. I introduced him to it the day he turned 4 months old but alas, it did not do anything to help him sleep at night. Yes he continued to wake up every 3 hours, sometimes even less than that! Who wouldn't love that cute little face though? Last week my friend Ale told me about "The Baby Whisperer" and the great sleep techniques it gives. I was at my wits end with Dale and really not enjoying a very good quality of life being grumpy all the time, so I bought the book that day and read it as soon as it came. This last Tuesday I implimented what I read and forced Dale on a schedule, used the pick up/put down technique to get him to go to sleep without nursing first, and lived a hellish life for two days straight. A miracle occured yesterday though! Dale didn't cry when I layed him in his crib for his nap, or for bedtime, and he slept for 11 hours straight! Yes people, 11 hours. I know this may not be amazing for many other babies out there, but Dale usually wakes every three hours and has given me a 5-6 hours stretch only a handful of times, so 11 hours is enough to have me singing praises to "The Baby Whisperer". We'll see how he does tonight, because he did resist a lot more today at nap time, but he still went down at 7:30 tonight and I'm optimistic and dedicated to seeing this through.

In case anyone ever wonders, it's not that I'm vain but I do try and put pictures of all of us on this blog, including me. It's going to be our journal someday and I want to chronicle how ALL of us have aged, not just the kids. I know one day I'll look back and wish I was a lot more happy with myself at this stage, even though now it is so easy to focus on what I wish I could change about myself. I also want my kids to be able to see how young I used to be, and THEY were the ones who aged me so fast!
I wanted to get a picture of Dale's cute rosey cheeks from the cold, but the flash sort of dulled the color.
I still try to help Adaira learn to show love to her baby brother. She generally tries to be rough with him and see how much she can get away with. We hope it's just a stage she is going through... I always tell her how much Dale loves her in hopes of it helping her have a desire to be nice to him.
