Sad goodbye to Daddy...

Justin left for Georgia yesterday afternoon. Right now he is somewhere in the middle of Texas. His good friend, David VanAllen, took time off work to be his driving buddy. Thanks David and thank you Jenny for letting him go! I thought I would be more emotional considering the seemingly impossible task of holding down the fort at home for 3.5 weeks with an impossible newborn and two other kids that love to challenge my authority on a constant basis, but I was doing pretty well. Doing well until Brighton started crying, that is. I expected Adaira (a TOTAL Daddy's girl) to breakdown but she was fine. Poor Brighton lost it and just wouldn't let Justin go. He hugged and hugged him crying and after we went outside he was crying and hugging him again. When Justin started pulling away Brighton started to freak out like he was going to chase down the truck, but luckily my Dad quickly distracted him by asking him to help him with something. Later on that day Brighton came up to me and was crying again, saying he wished his Dad didn't have to get his new job. Since then he has been doing better, and in his prayer for dinner last night he prayed that we wouldn't "miss Dad as much." I keep trying to keep him excited by telling him we get to fly on a big plane out to Georgia and live on an island right be the beach, and that his new school is right by the beach, and although at first he wanted none of it, he is starting to show some enthusiasm for moving.

Good 'ol David! He's a pretty good talker so I'm sure he'll do a good job keeping Justin awake, right Jenny? :)

Brighton didn't let Justin go for quite a while. It's funny because Justin has left town before on work trips for 3-4 days and Brighton hardly noticed, but seeing the truck loaded up and knowing it was going to be a while before we saw Dad again really made Brighton upset. At least we know Brighton loves his Daddy.

Why are you waiting so long before going to Georgia? You should get on a plane this weekend and meet Justin there.

Wow--that will be a challenging few weeks, but you'll have some major super mom braggin rights. Hope it passes quickly!

It was sweet the he wouldn't let me go. It was a complete role reversal for Brighton and Adaira. Things are going well out here. So far so good.

Love and miss you guys.
