Brighton Goes to School


Brighton had his first day of Kindergarten today! I sniffed a little bit after dropping him off at his classroom but today was a work day for me so after I went to work it didn't seem any different because either way Brighton wouldn't have been with me. Tomorrow all day with just Adaira and I will be different. Here is Brighton just before we left to school. He had his backpack straps on both shoulders but then took one strap off and said "some kids wear it this way."

Justin came home a little early to be with us to meet Brighton. Afterward we went and got ICEE's to celebrate

Yes every school now in Chandler has full day. I was kinda hoping with budget cuts and all that they would cut it to half day (he has 27 kids in his class, they could do half day and have smaller classes!) but they didn't. What do you guys have in VA?

What happened to the video? It wouldn't play for me but then again I am a little retarded:) How does he do with full day school, is it exhausting for little ones? We didn't have full time when we were little did we?

Mel,

My Kindergarten was in the basement so I don't know about full or half day then, but Brighton still has plenty of energy left at the the end of the day so it works for him (of course the only time Brighton lacks energy is when he is ill). I've heard other parents say that their kids are exhausted at the end of the day though.

Today Daisy was baptized by her big brother Brighton. My mom and Adaira got to be the witnesses, grandma Joanna gave the talk on the Holy Ghost, and Dale gave the closing prayer (after Dad has to rush during the closing song to help him put back on his tie and button up his shirt.   Memorial Day A couple months ago I told Justin that we should take our kids and both sets of grandparents to the Mesa City Cemetery and tell our kids stories about our family members buried there. I thought it would make a good Sunday or Family Home Evening activity.  I want my children to identify with their ancestors and feel like they can learn from them. I especially want them to feel like they can develop some of the same good qualities or avoid some of the poor ones. They had also never been to a cemetery so it would be a new experience for them. Justin and I never got around to organizing it until today. Justin's mom was planning a lunch BBQ and swimming for Memorial Day and told me she was thinking of inviting my parents and asked about time preferences since she was thinking of doing it around dinner time.
