What's Kept Me Distracted

Image
So I've hardly made any time to blog for the last 6 months. I threw myself into a business, an MLM business (gasp!), something I thought I would never EVER do because I've always looked down on them because they are annoying, pushy, tricky, etc. Back in January I tried a product called the Skinny Wrap. It was $25 and I thought "What the heck, I've paid twice that or more at a day spa for a wrap and didn't see or feel any different, all I've got to lose is $25". I tried it and didn't see any results. In fact I bloated for three days. I tried it again a week later, and lost 2 inches wearing the wrap for one hour. I was sold, end of story. Business girl in me said "this is a product that can go places and you've never heard of it. Lots of growth potential = $$$" so I signed up. It was so embarrassing (and still is sometimes) to admit I've sold my soul to an MLM. But really, I'm all in. I love this stuff, and I love the products. I bu...

♪♪ Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do, I'm half crazy all for the love of you ♪♪ I absolutely love having a child this age. They aren't as needy and are more independent, but they are still so cute and fun (well the mild tempered kids like Daisy anyway!). She is a joy, and I know I gush about her all the time, but I love watching her learn and grow. I love how she runs everywhere she goes and the way her little hips flail trying to keep up with those little legs. Half the time I'm surprised she doesn't fall on her face.  This girl is super tall! She's a good 4in above all of her friends and cousins. I can't remember if I mentioned this or not, but at her last doctor visit she was in the 99.8th percentile for height! She is a skinny little girl too, the skinniest one I have had. I think she's got her Daddy's genes. These pictures are all from May (I'm a little behind) Little too tall for this swimsuit, ha ha!  Daisy loves blow...

Feasting on the word of God

Dale, that's not what it means!

Keepin' it real

I actually wore these shorts in public today for several hours before my sweet 9yr old says "mom you have a hole in your shorts and your underwear is totally showing" and I had not even felt a breeze. True story.

Making applesauce

Image
From Facebook: June 25, 2013  It's 10:30pm you say? You are tired you say? Work kids, work! Get that applesauce done! Child labor laws can't save you here! (j/k, they are having fun and begging to keep going, 10 big jars filled and we are only halfway done, will start again tomorrow afternoon, gotta love summer!) Brighton & Adaira helped me with the apple harvest and stayed up until after 10pm helping me make the sauce. They were having such a good time I just couldn't send them to bed. Dale was still  awake at 10pm (yes I'm crazy, and these kids will be cranky tomorrow) and he saw my previous pictures on FB and said "Mom, you nee take picture ah me too!" so here it is.

Update on our Growing Girl!

Image
I have been too distracted the last few months. I need to do an update on our Darling Daisy. She is 19 months old now and such a joy! These pictures are from May and early June. Daisy has probably 10 words already (we are afraid she will be speaking clearly before Dale is...). She says Mama, Dada, Dara, Cheeze (Chees!), Shoe, Diaper (Di-pah), no (she always says "No no no!), Go Car, and I'm sure there are a few others I can't remember off the top of my head. She waited a while before giving us any kisses, but sometimes she will do it now, and that is just adorable, makes my heart melt. She loves sticking out her bottom teeth and you can often see her with what we call the "Pop-eye" face as seen in the background here: She is pretty easy to please, and doesn't make a peep when she wakes up after her nap. I typically leave her in her crib for 3.5 hours every day for her nap. She's always awake when I go in to get her but she's just chilling with ...

Audra's experiences worth mentioning

Aura's & the Restoration I've been meaning to record two special things that occurred this year, but hesitated because other people read this blog and I didn't want to sound self righteous or bragging, but now that I have updated the blog through October and this post is going to be dated in June, nobody is likely to see it :) In February of this year an older sister in our ward, Sharon Christensen, had a stroke and passed away unexpectedly. She had been my visiting teacher a few years prior and was always very consistent, so I knew her fairly well. She had this dark curly hair that she had a habit of twirling around her fingers at church. One time her husband saw her twirling her hair and he kind of nudged her and when she looked at him he pretended to twirl his own hair; his own way of telling her to "stop it". For the past year or so Sister Christensen had been largely inactive. There were rumors that she wasn't coming because she was struggling with...

Baseball

Baseball Brighton just finished his Spring baseball season. His 3rd season so far. The team he was on for two seasons in the past seemed like good teams. We won some, lost others and Brighton learned some of the fundamentals. By the end of season 2 he was getting hits most at bats against the pitching machine. Because Brighton turned 9 in March he had to move up to the kid pitch league. In this league they have tryouts and then sort the kids based on their abilities. Watching the boys at tryouts Brighton was certainly the small fish in the big pond both in size and talent. Brighton was placed on the Sea Dogs. I took him to one of the early practices and hung around to see if I could help but there were already 4 coaches/dads actively and more knowledgeably coaching the boys. We learned that the boys on the team have played together for some time now. I guess they had an opening on the team and since they were a good team they were assigned Brighton. Poor Brighton had a lot to l...
