Kicking off Spring Break with the Ellsworths

Grandma and Grandpa gave all of us a family trip to southern Arizona for Christmas, which we took the first weekend of Spring break. We left Friday and drove straight to Karchtner Caverns and the kids were amazed by that cave. It's just too bad we couldn't take any pictures.

After our two separate tours at Kartchner Caverns (we all couldn't fit in one tour) we headed to Sierra Vista for the night. Justin and I met up with my cousin Tammy and her husband Mark for dinner while the kids hung out at the hotel. We found out pretty quickly that the most fun things the kids enjoyed was just sleeping in a "cool" hotel room where they had access to cable channels, and being together at the hotel pool with their cousins.

The next day we headed to Bisbee for a tour of the Queen Mine. This was probably our coolest stop for the kids since they were allowed to touch everything (that definitely wasn't an option at Kartchner). Kids under 6 weren't allowed on the tour so the group had to split in two again so we could leave the youngest kids with the alternative group.

After the Queen Mine tour we went to Tombstone for lunch. There wasn't much to do there for a group as big as ours, so we didn't stay long.

After Tombstone we headed to up to Tucson for the night. On our way we stopped at a little place of the highway called "Garden of Gethsemane". The backstory is that a soldier promised God during WWII that if his life was spared he would devote art to Jesus. After the war he didn't do it right away but years later found himself homeless in Tucson and started making these sculptures out of sand and whatever other materials he could gather.

We didn't come prepared with swimsuits, thinking it would be too cold for swimming, but the kids thought otherwise! When they all swam in their clothes the previous night at the hotel, we decided to do a quick Walmart stop for suits so they could swim at the hotel the second night. Polly was so adorable in her 2 piece, she kept pulling at the top wondering why it wasn't long enough, lol.

We basically took over the pool area

The following day headed home and stopped at Rooster Cogburn's Ostrich Farm on the way home.

The best thing to see on these trips is the relationships between the cousins growing stronger. Brighton and Riggs and Adaira, Dusti & Talyn especially. We are grateful to my parents for doing things like this so we can all be together.
